These substances were used to produce small quantities of U-233 from thorium which can be used to make a nuke. The Glocke was simply a cyclotron that was optimized to produce 1.66 Mev gamma rays which got the process going. Normally it would take hundreds of years for a cyclotron to make enough U-233 for a single bomb. But the nazis tried to use the combo of antimony, beryllium and mercury to accelerate the process...
